Diet: insects and their larvae, earthworms, spiders and berries in summer
Reproduction: from May to June. The female lays between 4 and 5 eggs per brood. Incubation lasts 13 days supervised by both parents.
Habitat: Scarce in UK, most common in SE England heaths, woods or copses. Nests in parts of Europe, North Africa, Middle East and Central Asia. Over winters in Africa. The song of the male nightingale in courtship during April/ Early May is one of natures most remarkable bird songs.
How to use
Hold the whistle with one hand on the metal piece and the other on the wood. Rub both pieces together whilst turning and applying pressure. The nightingale has been known to modify his song in response to musical instruments played by humans.
