Follow our basic guide for selecting your hedgehog house.
BRUSHWOOD HOUSES - Such as the Igloo and Hogitat. These are open floored houses with sturdy metal frame and water proofed membrane. These replicate natural refuges such as log or leaf piles where hedgehogs would naturally hide from predators. The advantage with the brushwood house is the strong roof and small entrance tunnels for safety from dangers and predators. Should be covered with additional brushwood for extra insulation for hibernation.
WOODEN HEDGEHOG HOUSES - Such as the Original Hedgehog and Hedgehog Feeder. These have a floor and various defence mechanisms such as interior maze and small entrance to deter predators. They are designed to open easily for cleaning and replacing food, so are ideal feeding stations.
OTHER DESIGNS - Such as the Hogilo made from recycled second life plastic. All the best features of the above houses have been distilled into one unique design. Much loved by hedgehog rehabilitators for care, feeding and monitoring of re-releases.
