Owls are predators of mainly small mammals that are found all over the UK and inhabit a range of habitats. British owls are under threat as a result of the way humans are affecting their food supply and nest sites. Factors include the intensive management and cutting regimes of crucial hunting habitats, the loss of nest sites as a result of development and tree felling due to health and safety concerns, the loss of vital hunting habitats through development. In addition, many owls are also killed by traffic on busy roads that course through their hunting range.
