Now is the time that male Mason bees are active and start emerge from inside the bee tubes.  The males will be followed by the emergence of the queen bees who will then start the process of laying their eggs (along with a store of pollen) in individual cells within the tubes.  When the tube is full, you will see the end sealed over with mud.  The eggs will later hatch into larvae who will over-winter in the tubes.
