Its hedgehog awareness week, 1st - 7th May. Please help to raise awareness of the hedgehogs plight during hedgehog awareness week. You could organise and event, display information, contact your local newspaper or radio station or post leaflets. Contact the BHPS, they can provide you with more information including leaflets and posters. Their email is info@britishhedgehogs.org.uk. Do just one thing during this week to help hedgehogs.
The BTO Nightgale Survey has been extended from 14th May to 20th May due the slow start to the breeding season for migrants.

The aim of the survey is to map all singing males and compare their numbers and distributions have changed since 1999.

Whether you’ve got a window box or a large garden, it doesn’t take a lot to make space for wildlife in your garden. Ian McGuire of Wildlife World will be there to show you how to attract the safe solitary bees and RSPB and The Worcestershire Wildlife Trust will be on hand to answer all your wildlife questions.

Also discover the large range of Bee and Butterfly-friendly plants available to get your garden buzzing!
We have a range of exciting activities throughout the weekend!
Widespread and common throughout Britain and Ireland the Meadow Brown gives everyone a chance to get the first sighting. In 2011 it was recorded on May 19th in Sussex.

Maniola jurtina is orange and brown, with black eyespot on forewing tip. Eyespots have single white pupils not to be confused with the gatekeeper which has two white pupils.
